Spring is for leaving

14 Mar

Warm days are easy to love, since fools,
With no shame or preparation, do well in them.

Spring is for leaving, vagabond poets:
Fires do not freeze in sweltering May.

Dark autumn drives us inward as snow crunches underfoot.
If breath gives meaning, then the heat of words, seeing.

Warmth in cold is mine, yours and ours.

Even the snowflake’s symmetry floats sculpted by a chisel,
Wrought by the silent ministry of frost.
