Transjurassienne – more later

16 Feb

Did the 76 42 km Transjurassienne skate race this weekend. Very little snow and mostly going in a queue the whole time, but had a good experience anyway. Will write more later. But this week I’m busy focusing on the final preparations for the 90km classic style Grenaderløpet.

The best skiing this last weekend was the day before and after the race on tracks near the village of Giron. The above video was mostly shot there. Even though there wasn’t much snow, the track groomer did a brilliant job. I spoke to him on Monday and tried to convince him to come to Norway. If he did, skiing on the late seasons trails in the Sørkedalen valley near Oslo would last into June.

The trails in Giron had a perfect grade for skating. You could cruise around fast and nearly effortlessly. Hope to go back and experience better conditions.

Congrats! You broke thru the 3h barrier. Hope it was a great experience.

Could be very cold on Saturday. If I don’t see you at start, good luck. Now is the time to stock up on carbs

Well let’s say I nearly missed three hour mark! Started heading for the finish where I was supposed to do a second loop. Did an extra 2km before I came to my senses. Good luck with your prep too and see you Saturday
