Waiting for the machine

5 Dec

Kenyan Philip Boit has taken up winter residence in Lillomarka. As you can see, snow cover has been very light. But we got a good shot of white stuff last night. Now it’s time to wait for the machine.

It has been difficult keeping track of trail preparing in the early season because the usual online information sources haven’t been forthcoming. But I’m definitely not complaining. The problem, which isn’t one, is that some of the trail prep has been done by local ski clubs stepping in instead of waiting for Oslo Parks and Recreation (Filuftsetaten) to get its proverbial butt in gear. And only the latter’s activities get tracked online.

The bitterly cold weather combined with this lack of information has been keeping crowds mercifully low.

I’ve nevertheless created my little ski dashboard to keep watch on weather and prep:

But at this point there’s no online replacement for on site investigation.
