Rollerski nirvana attained

21 Jun

Have delved out into the wild Western reaches of Oslo. The route on Gamle Ringeriksvei brought me to rollerski Nirvana. It’s a 32km round trip from Aker Brygge by the water’s edge in central Oslo to the end of the bicycle path at a pretty lake above Bærum.

The route climbs gradually and possess somewhat slow but mostly pothole and crack free asphalt. Makes for great training as it winds through bucolic farmland. Traffic is light and the path parallel to the road is nicely shielded from traffic. Road crossings have been optimized for small wheels with smooth ramp-style curbs everywhere.

I did not use my speed reducers on the way back down and got happily above 30kmh in a snowplough without it becoming a sad, skin grinding affair. This will be my future long tour of predilection. There are some possible connection points into the Røa area to make it even longer.
