Roller skis on the bus

DON'T CHEAT OFF OTHERS

The Oslo transit agency has a great ad campaign featuring roller skiing. I was on the 54 bus last night and fought hard to repress urges to steal the poster. I snapped a picture of it with my cell phone camera instead. The advert encourages bus users to buy their own ticket instead of freeloading off other riders: “when you travel without a valid ticket, the other travellers are the ones who pay for you”. The Norwegian expression for cheating off someone else, snik på, could be translated literally as to “sneak on” someone else. The photo really illustrates the concept! And it also shows how pervasive roller skiing is in Norwegian culture.
